Cerambycid? - Semanotus ligneus

Cerambycid? - Semanotus ligneus
South Jordan, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
April 12, 2014
Size: 15 mm
I threw a stump of a cedar tree, I had cut down in my yard, and I found this beetle crawling around in the wheel barrow. It may or may not have been associated with the Cedar. I haven't seen any evidence of an infestation on the tree as I cut it up. I have collected cerambycids for a long time and have never encountered this beetle. I'm very interested in what it is.

Semanotus conformis
I believe that this species is treated at Semanotus conformis (Casey) in Hammond & Williams (2013).

species is
Semanotus ligneus, the cedar tree borer

Thanks
Looks like it was associated with the cedar trunk. I will watch for me because I saved the bigger pieces for firewood.
