Wolf Spider - Pardosa - male

Wolf Spider - Pardosa - Male
Gloster, Gloster Arboretum, Amite County, Mississippi, USA
Size: body length 4.0 mm.
We believe this spider and the following female to be in the genus Pardosa. It is a good match for P. milvina as seen in this photo.
On March 03 2006, this male was found courting this female at a small puddle in a low area along a trail in dense woods. The area, including the puddle, contained many pieces of broken concrete used to control erosion. The pair was collected and placed in a terrarium, in hopes of obtaining photos of the courtship ritual. Had no luck, so after six days, on March 09, the spiders were photographed individually. After a further six days, on March 15, the female was seen carrying an egg sac. She was photographed and the pair was released.
