Moth - Drasteria divergens

Moth - Drasteria divergens
Irwindale, Los Angeles County, California, USA
April 16, 2014
This strikingly patterned, day-flying moth was very difficult to see when it perched on brown soil among leaf litter along the disturbed edge of mature alluvial fan sage scrub just west of the 605 Freeway about a half-mile north of Arrow Highway. After it made several brief flights I was finally able to get a decent view as it tried to hide on white gravel beneath Erodium cicutarium.
