1169 – Calosima dianella?
How was this identified? By similarity to images at BG and MPG?

ID
Yes, by images at BG, MPG, and also BOLD. I understand that the ID may not be possible without dissection, and I am happy to move the images if you feel that this ID is wrong. What I have been calling C. dianella is this (not posted before because of uncertainty), based on some of the images at BOLD that show darker color, but the size (4 mm) may be too small.

BOLD Errors
There are specimens from at least three BIN groups shown on the species page for dianella. That species and lepidophaga were lumped. The descriptions for both indicate that there are no spots. Your image above seems to match dianella and the location is good but all authors say that you can't separate them without dissection unless it a male in which case there would be notch at the base of the antennae for H. immaculella, H. immaculella, and H. villella. (Those species and browner C. dianella specimens are identical.) I think your linked image is in a different genus. I think this and all the ones in the Guide like it should be moved to tribe unless they are males.

Done. Thanks for the detective work on these!

Leave it for now
You can leave it for now. I'm just trying to find out if anyone has any definitive way of separating these. Thanks for getting back.
