giant bee - Xylocopa virginica

giant bee - Xylocopa virginica
Highland Haven, Burnet County, Texas, USA
April 18, 2014
There was a pair of these very large bees, close to the size of a hummingbird, enjoying some tennis ball-sized Antler Horn flowers. They had green eyes with speckles and a bottle-green rear end. They buzzed me but that was it. Thanks for telling me what kind they are...Denise K.
