Venter shot. Geolycosa missouriensis and G. wrighti are the only species recorded for the state. This specimen is not wrighti which has a black venter

YEY!!!

A ventral! I'm not completely sure about these so I will let Laura make the decision, but it certainly is Geolycosa. Here is the ventral of one I found. It looks slightly similar but the markings near the second pair of book lungs appear darker. However, my specimen was dead.

yes, i have checked your photos for comparison in the past. In my opinion, yours is missouriensis as well.

Interesting

I found mine dead near the door to my school, not within a burrow. Likewise, this was the only Geolycosa I found in NE Kansas. They are fairly common within Central KS but it appears that they are a bit more uncommon where I live. I thought it was missouriensis as well; however, I didn't have any other references to prove the claim.
