Prominent Caterpillar?

Prominent Caterpillar?
Miller Peak Wilderness, Ash Canyon, Huachuca Mountains, Cochise County, Arizona, USA
April 12, 2014
Size: approx 1.5 cm
Found on the edge of an Oak leaf, I wouldn't have noticed it except I was taking photos of another insect, I even touched it and still thought it was part of the leaf. It looks similar to some of the Notodontidae,. but I don't see any good matches. Thank you for your help.

I agree
this looks the closest from what I can find on BG. I'll have to admit that this is the caterpillar that came to my mind even when I first found the caterpillar - pretty distinctive (and very beautiful). I would guess that it's the same genus. Thank you for your help.

This seems close to Heterocampa averna.
