ABSTRACT:

A comprehensive guide to over 635 species of eriophyoid mites found in the United States, containing taxonomic descriptions, detailed illustrations, host plants, feeding habits, distributions, references and plant injuries caused by these mites. Also included are morphology and current terminology, techniques for collecting and preserving eriophyoid mites, synonyms, and check lists of mite species and host plants. Important taxonomic changes include: Aceria tritici Shevchenko 1970 as a junior synonym of Aceria tosichella Keifer 1969, restricted to wheat as the host plant (Gramineae); Aceria tulipae (Keifer 1938) occurs on onions, tulips and garlic (Liliaceae).
