Sawfly - Abia americana - female

Sawfly - Abia americana - Female
Hawk Creek Falls, Lincoln County, Washington, USA
April 25, 2014
Is this Abia Americana? Found feeding on Mahonia (Oregon Grape)and appeared to be ovipositing on Symphoricarpos (Snowberry). We have a native Lonicera here but it is much less widespread and vigorous than the Snowberry, which is also a member of the Caprifoliacae family. Thanks for your correction or confirmation of the ID!

Yes, this is Abia americana (Cresson). Adults might be found on almost any flowers. Larvae are known to feed on both Symphoricarpos and Lonicera.
