Unknown Insect

Unknown Insect
Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, USA
April 29, 2014
Size: Approximately 4.5 inches.
Found while on a study on the snails of Charlotte. While shifting the pile of leaves on a hot humid day at 4:00, this insect came by. It displayed no reaction to me stomping around. It is not a concern to various ants of large-ish size, as it tramples the ants without a second thought. It had appeared from an undeveloped area. It was a forest lined with branches and leaves. Inch worms and ants also accompany the area. Subject displays millions of legs. Rarity is likely very rare, due to the appearance on only this specimen while I'm hiking in the forest studying.

Looks like something in Xystodesmidae. The experts will be able to say for sure.
