Raised from Populus stump. Tree was recently dead and may have been an aspen (most leaves gone), possibly a cultivar planted in the campground on National Forest. Identification via photo by Rick Hoebeke: "I think this is Xylotrechus mormonus (LeConte) based on its dark (black) coloration, reduced bands on the elytra, and lack of markings on the pronotum and sterna.
