Moved from ID Request.
I'm relying on the brush extending to the basitarsus in distinguishing this from S. crassipes.

appears to be Schizocosa
male Schizocosa

Thanks
Now we need to figure out if it is Schizocosa ocreata or crassipes.
It was found in leaf litter at the edge of a bottomland forest.
I will try and get a better picture of the palp later today.

crassipes vs. ocreata
“The main difference between
S. crassipes and S. ocreata must be discerned by the pedi-
palps. The former has a smooth prominence along the
retrolateral side of the paleal process, while the latter has
a rugose or wrinkled prominence.”

Schizocosa ocreata
Leaning towards ocreata because of description of hair tufts on first set of legs-

S.crassipes
“Bristles on tibia of legs I black and dense"
S. ocreata
“Bristles on tibia and metatarsus of legs I black and
dense, bristles often extending to the basal portion of the tarsus “

i can't say for certain
enjoying the pdf files-- bookmarked!

:)
Added a picture of the front leg with tufts but couldn't get a sharper image of the pedipalp- it is just so tiny!

Palp
Is your palp image taken through a dissecting microscope? I found out that dissecting scopes were very useful in getting (somewhat) decent pictures of the palps.

No :/
No, I don't have a dissecting microscope, but thanks for the tip!

I actually...
...don't either. I just ask to use the ones within the science classrooms at my school. I'm sure you can ask the biology/entomology department of a local university to see whether you can get access. If you tell them it is for species research I am sure someone will be willing to let you use the scopes.
