We found these on our ride to the swamp this afternoon, curious as to what may be inside.

These are caused by a wasp, Callirhytis seminator. We don't have a photo of the wasp itself, but here is a closely related species (same genus):

 
Hatching the Gall
I may experiment by hatching the gall within a net of some sort and see if I can get a picture of the wasp that emerges on our new microscope. Thanks...

 
Container
A sealed container like a jar or zip-loc type bag would work better than a net. These wasps are small, so you don't want anything with holes!
