Variable Dancer? - Argia fumipennis - female

Variable Dancer? - Argia fumipennis - Female
Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida, USA
May 8, 2014
A lot these brownish-black damselflies were along a cross-county trail in the Baars-Firestone Wildlife Sanctuary at the University of West Florida. I suspect they are Variable Dancers (Argia fumipennis), but I'm not certain if they are Black Dancers (A. fumipennis atra) or Smoky-winged Dancers (A. fumipennis fumipennis) – both of which could occur in this area. Any information will be greatly appreciated!

Agree with your ID - Argia fumipennis
Please note the Remarks section.

I don't know how to differentiate the females of the subspecies - fumipennis and atra.
They appear very similar in Paulson (1).

Thanks!
Thanks for confirming the species ID! I did see some males, but didn't get a decent photo. I'll try again in the next few days.

I see there are a lot of photos of this species, so please feel free to frass any images that aren't needed for the guide. I would, however, like to keep at least one of these images to document the occurrence in Escambia County.
