springtail - Seira purpurea
Sunol Regional Park, Sunol, Alameda County, California, USA
May 27, 2006
Size: <2mm
Under the bark of a dead, downed tree (an oak, I think).

Moved from Seira.

thanks Frans
Moved from Entomobryidae to Seira for now.

Seira purpurea
Hi Joyce. After comparing both images Seira is the best match. See my comment at the other image. It is the second Seira species for the guide. Well done!

Entomobryidae
Possibly genus Sinella, but hard to recognise. It seems that the specimen is transparant and that the dark longitudinal middorsal band is its gut contents.
