White Miller - Nectopsyche albida

White Miller - Nectopsyche albida
Ailsa Craig, Ontario, Canada
July 19, 2004
Head to wingtip about 9 mm. Not being an angler, I'm not familiar with the names they give to aquatic insects but White Miller sounds as good as any. The previous link says the White Miller is in the family Leptoceridae (Long-horned Caddisflies) and the genus Nectopsyche but I don't know how reliable that info is (couldn't find other photos, and Bland's "How to Know the Insects" mentions only one Nectopsyche species - exquisita - which is yellowish brown).

Thanks, Lloyd and Michael

White Miller
I agree with Michael that this is Nectopsyche, and albida seems likely as the species.

I think I know what it is...
I dont know if you're keeping up with comments, but I think that it's a Nectopsyche species also, Nectopsyce albida. It's white, like the one you have, and I'm pretty sure its in your range, we have them here in Minnesota and Ontario cant be too far away. Might want to check the Cedar Creek website...they have a pic of one.
