Coleoptera - Blapstinus dilatatus

Coleoptera - Blapstinus dilatatus
Davis, Yolo County, California, USA
May 7, 2014
Size: 8 mm
Collected at night on a rock at the edge of a not so clean duck pond, at first I thought it was Tenebrionidae or Melandryidae, but it seems to have 2 pairs of compound eyes while the antennae & legs don't seem quite right for Gryinidae...? I'm new at identifying beetles, any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Tarsi are 5-5-4 and it has 11 antennae segments.

Blapstinus sp.

Thanks!
Seems my first instinct was right...

Do you think there is much hope for this to be identified or is it frassworthy? I don't see very many other Blastinus records from my part of CA.

ID of Blapstinus
ID is somewhat problematic from photos. The genus was revised but not published. The key in Davis's unpublished thesis rely at times on male genitalia.
