Mother-lode of tufted millipedes - Polyxenus lagurus

Mother-lode of tufted millipedes - Polyxenus lagurus
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
January 7, 2007
Size: 0.75 - 3 mm approx.
Adult. Note the antennae sticking part-way out. I don't think I was aware that these little guys had antennae. They seem to keep them tucked out of sight most of the time.

Moved
Moved from Polyxenidae.

When you see a "moved from,"
it usually signifies that a better ID has been obtained, in this case allowing the images to be moved from family level to genus and species. It doesn't mean that the images no longer belong in that family or other higher taxon, although that is sometimes the case, only that the images are no longer stuck at that level without a more complete ID.
