Rhagio scolopaceus (Linnaeus), male
Moved from Rhagio. ID'd from specimen, now a photo-voucher. Thanks Tom!

Tom, what a great find. This is an Old World species first reported from the Boston area by F.C. Thompson in 1969, with the earliest specimen from 1949. Only four specimens were known to him, the 1949 specimen, one from 1963, and two from 1968. All were from Boston (Hyde Park and opposite Regis College on Wellesley Street). Perhaps it is still restricted to eastern MA.

Rhagio scolopaceus
That explains why there wasn't a match for it in the guide yet. Brad, thanks again for identifying the specimen and coming up with something unusual.
