Flower Longhorn,, - Dorcasina matthewsi - Female
Burnaby, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
July 3, 2006
Size: 1.5cm
This longhorn is very common in my area. I can find them on very big dead roots of pine tree. I believe that they come for laying eggs. But, have never seen male.

Lepturine
Looks to me like a species of Judolia...

hard one from photo
Now that I looked at it on a better computer screen, I see more detail of the pronotum, which now does not really look like Judolia, or dorcasina, based on the North American lepturinae volume by Chemsak. This is a hard one without physically having several of the specimens lying in front of you to compare other traits...

..
I added a more detailed image for you.
Can you identify it now?

Reminds us of
Dorcasina matthewsii in Haggard and Haggard's book. But can't find any images online yet. We have one image tentatively identified by John Davis here . What do folks think?
