Xylocopa (Neoxylocopa) sonorina Smith, 1874
A female large carpenter bee

X. sonorina is described from Hawaii but is not native. It is likely a senior synonym of Xylocopa varipuncta Patton, 1879, from the southwestern USA and Mexico (see Snelling, 2003). No other Xylocopa species is known from Hawaii.
