Weird, diptera.org says that versipellis is a junior synonym for Chrysosyrphus frontosus, the latter in "(NT: NE) British Columbia to Nova Scotia, s. to Georgia, Mexico" but versipellis was described from WA originally?

Hmmm... probably one of Cheilosa, Chrysosyrphus, or Chrysogaster - having trouble telling the facial tubercule and height of antennal insertion on the head, so difficulty telling between the three.

it does not look like Cheilosia, but very likely Chrysogaster or maybe Chrysosyrphus... great find
