Pteronarchys (californica?) - Pteronarcys

Pteronarchys (californica?) - Pteronarcys
Deschutes River Boat Ramp, Warm Springs, Jefferson County, Oregon, USA
May 26, 2014
Mass emergence of this and at least one other species recently. I think P. californica may be the only likely species of Pteronarchys in the area.

Moved
Moved from ID Request.

P. princeps may also be possible in your area. Here in northern California, the two species sort of separate out by elevation -- P. californica being at the lower elevations.

In order to ID your specimen, we'd need to see close-up photos of the genitalia: side view for the male, but ventral view for the female.

Thanks so much! Unfortuna
Thanks so much!

Unfortunately I didn't get genitalia photos of any of the individuals, but I'll keep that in mind for future stonefly sightings. If it helps at all, the elevation is about 1,539 ft (469 m), and the Deschutes River at this location is pretty small (although certainly not a stream).
