Myzia pullata

Myzia pullata
Fredericton, York County, New Brunswick, Canada
May 28, 2014
Size: 6 mm (length)
Haven't seen one before. Looking for a confirmation on ID, or a point in the right direction.
If it is M. pullata, it's a new Bug Guide record for New Brunswick.

Found on Picea glauca.

Well, well.
I went looking over lunchtime today to try and find one at the same place Evan found one yesterday at Dickson Falls. It's good to know spruce are where they seem to occur. His site was surrounded by (red) spruce almost exclusively. I must have sampled several hundred trees with a beating sheet, but no luck, YET ;)

yes, M. pullata
Very good find! It's also a fine addtion to BG for its distinctive maculation; most of our images have immaculate or less heavily-marked elytra.

The pronotal markings are a key identification feature for this species, as are the rounded oval shape and slightly explanate elytra. The most similar species in your area, Mulsantina picta, can have a somewhat similar pronotum, but is longer/narrower in shape and the elytra are not explanate.

Thanks...
...for the confirmation, and the ID tips! :-)
