Stenelytrana gigas

Stenelytrana gigas
Weatherford, Parker County, Texas, USA
May 29, 2014
I hang a banana over the upstairs deck for butterflies to visit and feed on. This beetle showed up (and fed) on it. ID help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Stenelytrana emarginata…
See reference here.

Thank you!
Had never seen it before.

You're welcome...
This species is attracted to these kinds of rotting baits.

Other than these "rotting baits"....
...what is their "plant(s)"?

Food…
The larvae bore into and feed on decayed or dead hardwoods such as elm and maple. I don't think the adults are herbivorous.

Thank...
...you.
