Flicked with fine-tipped watercolor brush off conk Jan. 12, 2007 taken from log Dec. 9, 2006. There were dozens, perhaps scores, crawling on underside surface of conk.

They did strike me as snow fleas but what do I know ?

Hypogastruridae
The vernacular name 'snow flea' covers several closely related hypogastrurids, of which Hypogastrura nivicola is the most common one.
