Looks more like a Syrphid to me...


Were there aphids in the vicinity?

Thank you! Your reference photo is a close match. I saw no aphids, but the larva in my photo must be a syrphid.

Those two fused posterior spiracles (The two tubes sticking out the end) are a distinct characteristic of Syrphidae larvae.
