The leaves of the strawberry plant were eaten to shreds. Since it was potted, I dug it out and was washing the soil from the roots in an effort to find the culprit. The specimen was rinsed and dried on a coffee filter. There are several spittlebugs on vegetation in the yard but I haven't checked them out.
