Bob,
What are the diagnostics you're looking at? Does the gold-filled stigma rule out any other species? I discounted this species initially due to the pinkish coloration and the dark shading at the end of the forewing.

I Looked Mainly at the Lines and Spots....
...the pinkish wash is highly variable across a number of species. I disregarded the darker shading near the outer margin as an artifact of lighting. I thought your photo compared favorably with this thumbnail plus other photos at MPG.

I've posted another photo of
I've posted another photo of the same moth, taken from the other side. The shading is present on this as well. My first take as well was that this was shadow, but I think it is actually part of the wing pattern.
