Rhinoceros Beetle - Xyloryctes thestalus

Rhinoceros Beetle - Xyloryctes thestalus
Skull Valley, AZ, USA (WSW of Prescott 10 miles), Yavapai County, Arizona, USA
August 11, 2006
Commonly hunted by Skunks near street lights.

Moved
Moved from Rhinoceros Beetle.

Xyloryctes thestalus
is also possible in AZ. Robert, do you still have any like this?

Phillip, I have
Xylorectes from Prescott (Skull Valley is close by). I noticed that they are nearly all over 30 mm, but then there are some that are much smaller, males and females 22mm and less, but nothing in between.

Moved to jamaciensis
Moved from Xyloryctes--as Eric mentions, jamaciensis is the only North American species.

Thanks Eric & Patrick
Now I know! Have a Great Fall Season!

Male Xyloryctes sp.
This is a male Xyloryctes sp. I think X. jamaicensis is our only species, though.
