Walking onto my patio early in the morning I noticed that a caterpillar was stretched out along the rim of one of the plastic bowls I use to photograph insects and which I had left on the table under the Live Oak tree. When I looked carefully I noticed the larvae and, while I didn't understand why it chose my insect bowl, I at least understood why it was acting so uncharacteristically. I went ahead and collected it along with some Live Oak leaves. It chose to cling to the upper seam of the container without eating anything for the next few days. I thought it might be another one of these:
