Catocala - Catocala similis

Catocala - Catocala similis
Tallahassee, Leon County, Florida, USA
June 8, 2014
Size: forewing ~22mm
At outdoor light. Maybe this is one of the many variants of Catocala connubialis, but comparing my moth with the posted images I am not sure at all and would appreciate help.

Moved from ID Request.

Catocala semirelicta
aka Semirelict Underwing

Interesting suggestion!
Thank you for our comment - I had not considered this species because its hindwings are red rather than yellow (usually). Now, looking at it more closely I notice that C. semirelicta has not yet been reported this far south and the fringes of its hindwings are different from those of mine. I'll see what others have to say (if anything). Thanks again for having a look at my photo and picking a possibility.

Catocala similis...

Thank you, James. Well, the wedge-shaped light area at the apex had almost convinced me, but than I thought that the median area of my moth is not dark enough. Will become June image for Florida.
