Bagworm Moths - Coleophora trifolii

Bagworm Moths - Coleophora trifolii
Lanaudière, Quebec, Canada
July 28, 2006
Psychidae ???
To hide better, I guess, they keep the long tip of the seed envelope they cut to build their case.

Moved
Moved from Frass.

Dr. Jean-François Landry, Agriculture Canada, identified this larva as Coleophora trifolii. According to the information he gave me, the larva feeds on Melilotus seeds and the adult lays its eggs in the flowers of the same plant. The larva case is made of 2 or 3 empty seeds attached together with silk. This is an introduced species.

Claude, what do you think of
and

Coleophora trifolii
Yes, it is likely Coleophora trifolii; its larva host is Sweet clover, where the 2 specimens were found. I'll move the pictures to the right species.
