Long-horned??

Long-horned??
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
June 12, 2014
Looked through list for Canada and couldn't figure it out. I'll keep looking in the meantime though.

Moved
Moved from Semanotus juniperi.

Sorry to say, but this is not Semanotus juniperi.
Most likely a species of Callidium. Several are black.

thanks, DD and Charles --nice addition!
Moved from Callidiini.

Semanotus juniperi
I think it keys out as Semanotus juniperi (Fisher), since it has the metallic black elytra.

Moved
Moved from Beetles.

my best guess is Semanotus litigiosus...
...but the lack of pronotal callosities says i should've known better
Callidium frigidum is a somewhat similar beetle with no callosities, but it looks to be wider and flatter, like most of its congeners; must be that tribe anyway

Callidini
Thanks for your speedy assistance, v.
