Haploa species

Hi Marcia!
Any idea of species? My first guess is that this might be a variant of confusa; the colors are more yellow and orange. However, the two I collected at Rice are a lot larger than MPG's specimens of Haploa (up to as high as 40mm). Mine are 50 and 54.
What if we're looking at something new?

Hi Jim!

Bob Patterson had this to say about unmarked Haploa - I received the following from Chris Schmidt, leading specialist in Arctiidae (to whom I had sent the photos): "Most if not all Haploa species express this unmarked form, and there really is no reliable way to determine which this one is - however one can usually get a "most likely" by associating them with marked forms that occur at the same time/habitat." http://bugguide.net/node/view/280245/bgimage

Did you have one of the marked forms among the moths that you gathered?

By the way, have you been able to make a list of the insects you gathered so that I can add them to the list to provide the Director of the Rice Center?

Yes, both I collected were marked, and again, not much to be found like them on MPG. I'll post pics on Bug guide.
I have an incomplete list; mostly lepidoptera. I'll email it to you.
