Short yellow cerci maybe distinct? I don't know much about crickets and have never seen this one before, and I don't know what species are in the area.

yes, a male Gryllus nymph
Moved from ID Request.
According to SINA, there are 6 species of Gryllus in CA. I don't think they can be told apart reliably at this age.
