In a lab, 12 Photuris larvae
In a lab, 12 Photuris larvae were seen eating the roots of milkweed. Reports of milkweed-firefly associations involving at least four more firefly species in two more genera, Lucidota atra (Olivier), Photinus indictus (LeConte), Pyropyga decipiens (Harris), and a species of Pyractomena Melsheimer, that span 90 years in the eastern US are given, along with recent reports of similar behaviors seen from Texas to Canada. slope game
