irradescent bug ?? - Lygus
7000 ft elevation, Park County, Wyoming, USA
August 29, 2004
This pretty little critter is 1/2 inch long and is on a sunflower blossom in the mountains of NW Wyoming

other possibility?
Also see Tropidosteptes at Cedar Creek. It looks superficially similar.

Plant Bug
This is a plant bug of the family Miridae.
The loops on the hind wings are a good field mark.
Great Picture!

Lygus sp.?
I'd be willing to bet that this is a species of Lygus. The ivory "v" mark on the scutellum (triangular area between the wings)is pretty much a hallmark of the genus. They are larger than the other genera suggested earlier, also. Moving to guide page.
