Move to cylindricus species group.
Martin this is actually Ocyptamus dimidiatus in the classical sense. But that species along with Ocyptamus antiphates are lumped together in the cylindricus species group. Gil Miranda feels that it is just one variable species while I'm off the opinion that they are distinct. Sorry for not being clear.

I guess the distinction is more nuanced?
This has antennal flagellomere basally yellow to reddish brown and orange spots on the notopleuron and postalar callus - superficially similar to description of O. antiphates in Thompson 1981, so I guess the distinction is more nuanced?

The linked one below is part of the population in Hawaii, introduced, considered "O dimidiatus"--you can see the facial stripe is somewhat lightened, although all individuals in Hawaii are darker than O. antiphates and consistent with the above photo, so this might be food for thought:

Ocyptamus dimidiatus/antiphates
This is Ocyptamus antiphates/dimidiatus.

Moved from Syrphid Flies.

I'm seeing the margin of the scape projected onto the third antennal segment, which combined with other features puts this in the cylindricus species group. My best guess is actually Ocyptamus cylindricus itself, but I'm not 100% sure.
