Leucania scirpicola

Leucania scirpicola
Okeechobee County, Florida, USA
January 28, 2007

Moved from Moths.

Leucania scirpicola
is a good match at MPG, with its comma-shaped white discal spot and blackish scaling along the midvein. Among similar-looking species, Leucania incognita would be a good candidate but is not on the Florida list, and L. latiuscula appears to have a scalloped or broken double PM line with a more heavily-spotted and darker forewing.

Incidentally, the photo by Tom Murray currently on the scirpicola page looks like Leucania insueta to me.
