Dineutes assimilis
The photos of the underside are critical in placing species of Dineutes.

Dineutes assimilis
Thanks Don -- nice to have a species ID for one of these beetles.

I keep
forgetting that D. americanus is now the correct name - D. assimilis is a junior synonym now.

changed
thanks again Don -- I don't know how you can keep track of all the names.

Obviously
I fail at times.

Dineutus assimilis is the correct name
Actually, D. americanus is a species limited to the Caribbean, with one putative record from extreme southern FL. D. assimilis is the correct name for this critter - see my 1996 and 2010 FL water beetle manuals.
