pls make sure to crop images down to the bug for the guide
there's no point in keeping images of such a common insect where all one can see is lots of background and very little bug
keep in mind that regular users are unable to see your photos full-size

Sorry
I don't have an expensive camera, just a point and shoot with not a very good zoom. I was a bit worried about the quality if I cropped it too much. You can see the bug clearly and I thought that was the point.
I was excited about my find. Didn't realize it was such a "common" bug. I'll be sure to stay off of the site and out of the way of you professionals in the future.
Sorry for taking up your time with my stupidly amateurish submission.

I found your photo!
Abigail,
I'm just starting out photographing bugs and I also was scolded, three days ago, for a "bad" photo. How did I find you you ask? After scrolling through 100's of photos of Colorado bugs, I saw your thumbnail. I said to myself, I think I've seen that bug in my yard before. I wanted to find out the name and do a little more research. We'll, as I scrolled down the page I saw the comment which made mine seem nice!!!!
Moral of this story. Your well composed photo stands out. I see the details very well (even on the thumbnail)! Please don't give up! Newbies like me need the common bugs wayyyy more so than the rarities.

Thanks
I might have been feeling especially fragile that day.
I thought the point of this website was to document bug sightings, which bugs there are and where they occur. In other words, the fact that my picture is or isn't the best on the website isn't the point.
The point is, I spotted this particular bug in this particular geographic location at this altitude. So we know it can live here.
The picture is at least clear. You can use my picture to identify the bug. I did.
Thanks again, Alison.
