Evans (Arthur V. Evans [2014] Beetles of Eastern North America [Princeton University Press], 560 pages) provides a clear illustration and description: "Larva develops in woolens and dried animal products. Adults found in homes, hotels warehouses. Adults and larvae eat cereals, stored grains, stale bread, dry pet food, and many other stored food products. Widely distributed Mediterranean species found on all continents except Antarctica."
