Large Insect found in Tent on Mt. Rainier Wonderland Trail - Indian Camp - Cyphoderris
Mt. Rainier National Park, Pierce County, Washington, USA
September 10, 2010
Size: About 4 inches
I probably carried this bug from Summerland at 5900 ft. to Indian Bar Campground (also about 5900 ft) because I found it in my rain fly as I was setting up my tent. I carefully moved it before photographing it.

Yes
According to the description on this site, it is found in Northwest U.S. and Southwest Canada. I have never seen one before in Washington state (or anywhere else).

I think I remember hearing about a disjunct group of crickets long ago in a class. In a quick look, here are some links. Maybe someone at bugguide will have more info:

Hump winged crickets are a very small family of only about 4 known species. The two Old World species are each known from a single specimen. One of these was taken near the China Tibet border, and the other is from India. There are two species in North America and both are from the Pacific Northwest.

There is only one extant genus in North America, several lesser known genera in Asia, and at least 12 fossil genera.

Mountain Cricket Grig

It shows they are found in the Pacific Northwest. It's interesting that there are related crickets found in China and India.
