Megarhyssa? - Megarhyssa macrurus - male

Megarhyssa? - Megarhyssa macrurus - Male
Two Rivers SRA, Douglas County, Nebraska, USA
June 25, 2014
Size: ~ 2.25" long
Huge Ichneumon-type wasp sitting on dead tree (Boxelder would be my guess) just a few feet from the Platte River. No sign of ovipositor observed, suggesting that this a male. If so, I'm afraid to see the female! Also has a small hitchhiker on front leg...
