"Wool Carder" bee
This is a specimen of Anthidium manicatum, the "wool carder" bee of Europe, recently introduced to the eastern U.S. and expanding its range. There are lots of native Anthidium species, but the vast majority are western.

Invasive Species
Ah.. thank you, Eric, for that taxon. Any ideas how this non-native is affecting our natives? I notice the males of this species are very aggressive and the females are no slackers, either. Will this turn out like that damned Asian ladybird beetle (Harmonia axyridis) that seems to have knocked out many local ladybirds?
