Unknown Maple Leaf Miner - Aculus minutissimus

Unknown Maple Leaf Miner - Aculus minutissimus
Keene, Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA
June 12, 2014
I'm hoping that someone can identify the insect that caused this damage to a maple leaf. I'm seeing quite a lot of it in this area. Thank you.
This is my 4th or 5th try uploading this photo.

and gall morphology. The original Hodgkiss description lists four erineum mites on Acer rubrum, one of which has since been synonymized. I have no idea how to distinguish the two that form splotchy white/red erineum galls on the bottom of the leaf, but the one that forms white/red erineum along the veins of the top of the leaf is A minutissimus. I can send the original paper if you're interested but I'm mainly relying on the Amrine catalog.

Gall mites
Several different eriophyid mites produce similar fuzz (called erineum) on maple leaves.
