Tipula Perhaps - Xylotopus par - Female
Blountstown, Fl in the Panhandle, Calhoun County, Florida, USA
June 6, 2014
Size: Body about 1 cm
I think this is a crane fly but don't see one like it on bug guide. If Tipula, can this be got to species?

Image Posting
Oops! I though I did do an ID request. I'll be more careful. tm

Perpetuating Errors
Ken, Should I not put an insect name on my image if I am just making an educated guess... in other words if don't really know for sure? Sorry for the 5 images. I hit the "post" more than once when I thought the command didn't work.

If you're guessing...
...feel free to suggest a name, but please post the images to ID Request or to order (Diptera, Hymenoptera, etc.), so the experts can have a look. They'll move the pics to the proper page. Thanks.

Moved
Moved from Giant Crane Fly.

Not a Crane Fly. Looks more like a Midge to me. Please take care when placing images into the Guide. Errors that aren't caught can be perpetuated as others visit and assume the IDs to be solid. When in doubt, ID Request is the safest place to post. Thanks.
