This attached couple of syrphidae Eristalinae was moving in tandem from a flower to the other. Meromacrus sp?

I thought T. berberi had two
I thought T. berberi had two yellow spots at the base of the thorax, just above the scutellum but just discovered a mating pair where one has spots and the other doesn`t.

Your right. I would move this to T. obscurum due to the yellow setae on tergites 4 & 5.

Close - Meromacrus has a sinuous R4+5 vein (see here for a closeup). Temnostoma is quite similar, but has a straight vein. Unfortunately, the four single-banded species of Temnostoma are quite difficult to tell apart (details of microtrichia on the wings are key), so I've moved this to genus for now.
