In among scrub oaks, although I think this was a sassafras stem, probably 2 feet off the ground. At least 4 of these along the short bit of trail I walked.

Moved from Robber Flies.

Certainly appears to be. And I did not have any species listed on my MA list though I should have listed vockerothi. I have now added both species in the NE. This looks more like oriens but it is tough.
